Greeting in the name of the Roman Catholic Church,
In July, 2013, celebrating the World Youth Day Holy Mass in Rio de Janeiro on a Sunday, Pope Francis said, "Go, do not be afraid, and serve.” "Go home and do not be afraid to be generous with Christ. He is counting on you! The Church is counting on you! The Pope is counting on you!”
These words are like the words of an army General who says to his soldiers, "Go forth and fight for your country. Bring victory to your country, your people, your Church, all for the glory of God so peace may reign in your nation."
The above words, a call to victory, echo the Words of Jesus when He said, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to the whole creation." [Mk. 16:15] "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” [Mt. 28:19-20"
Jesus said, "Go." He did not say, "Do not go."
The words of Pope Francis were a powerful apostolic command, from Jesus, through Francis. "Jesus’ message of love is not just for some, it is for everyone." The young people must not to be afraid of bringing Christ into every area of life, to the fringes of society, even to those who seem most indifferent.
During January, we entered a new year. Many have made one or more resolutions. Some have kept them; some have not. Of those millions of resolutions that were made, how many Catholics have promised to renew their zeal to go forth and proclaim the Good News to those in their environment? God only knows. For those who have not, it is not too late to do so today. Today is the day! Today is a new beginning! Today is the day of the Promise to the Lord Jesus, to serve and promote His glory.
Let us pray that many will join us in this new beginning. Let us pray for their perseverance. And let us be thankful to God for sending us an abundance of soldiers to serve Him. God bless you all.
In the Divine love of Jesus,
