Dear followers of the Glorified Lord Jesus,
On May 20, 2012, we will be celebrating the Ascension of the Lord. When Jesus ascended into Heaven, He did not abandon us. It was a turning point in the history of the Mystical Body of Christ. Prior to His departure from this world, Jesus said, "Go into all the world and proclaim the good news to the whole creation..." [Mark 16:15]
Prior to the Ascension, God revealed Himself to us through His beloved Son Jesus. The Lord Jesus informed the human race of the conditions that are required for those who wish to qualify as sons and daughters of God. Through the Divine Words of Jesus, hence we were commissioned "as true witnesses of Christ... to spread and defend the faith by word and deed." (Catechism of the Catholic Church # 1285)
Over the last decade, I have received quite a few emails and letters from individuals who have answered their spiritual calling. Most recently, a Catholic wrote the following: "Just had to say thank you for such an informative website. ...I was only received into the faith a year ago during Easter. Since that time I have been verbally attacked on occasions by my protestant friends, sometimes quite aggressively, leaving me at a loss as to how to answer. Your website has given me the answers to many of the questions thrown at me and I really appreciate now having the answers. Becoming a catholic is truly the best thing I have ever done in my life and I feel home at last. I wasn’t born a catholic but at least I shall die one." How inspiring are these words!
Jesus never said that it would be easy to go forward to spread and defend the faith by word and deed. In fact, His delivery of the Good News cost Him His life on the Cross. Many, Catholics and non-Catholics, do not want to learn about rightousness, they prefer to be worldly.
This month, I want to remind my brothers and sisters in Christ that it was Jesus who said, "Go into all the world and proclaim the good news to the whole creation..." [Mark 16:15] Ask not what God can do for you: ask what you can do for God! Those who seek to serve the Lord in words and action, they have no difficulty in seeing the hand of God at work.
May the grace of God shine aboundantly through all of you.
