Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,
On October 2 nd, the universal Church shall celebrate the role of the Guardian Angels. When we think of Guardian Angels, we often visualize them as the protectors of little children, forgetting that they are with us from the moment that we are born until the day we die. Guardian Angels are not just for the children; they are also for the adults. So on October second, take a moment to reflect on the presence of your Guardian Angel, asking him for assistance in your ongoing needs.
October is also the month of the Rosary. The Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary shall be celebrated on the 7 th. This date provides a perfect opportunity to reflect upon our spiritual relationship to Mary, the Mother of God. Does the Virgin Mary encourage us to pray? Are we going to Jesus, through Mary? Do we know the history of the Rosary, how it has saved many on different occasions? What a great opportunity to increase our knowledge of the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary!
During October, the feasts of many popular saints are celebrated, namely, St. Thérèse, St. Francis of Assisi, St. Teresa of Jesus, St. Ignatius of Antioch, St. Luke, St. Isaac Jogues, St. John de Brébeuf and Companions, St. Anthony Mary Claret and Saints Simon and Jude. What a great opportunity to read on the life of some or all of these saints!
The month of October is a continuation of the Liturgy in Ordinary Time. There is no particular focus of the mysteries of Jesus. Instead, the Liturgy follows the life of Jesus through the Gospels, highlighting His teachings, His parables, what it means to be a follower of Christ. The lives of the Saints provide us with a perfect opportunity to learn how to grow in our spiritual lives.
In the love of Jesus and Mary,
