Dear sons and daughters of God,
December is the month that reminds all the members of the Christian community that indeed, in our faith community, there are sons and daughters of God. In the Bible, we read two passages that echo this truth:
"Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men." [Luke 2:14]
"Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God." [Mt. 5:9]
The first passage speaks of the words of the angel at the birth of Jesus, informing us of the arrival of Jesus who brings peace on earth between God and men. In the second passage, Jesus informs us that the peacemakers are blessed, for they shall be called sons (and daughters) of God.
Christmas Season is the time when many, touched by the Spirit of Peace, make peace among themselves, families, relatives, co-workers, communities, etc... It is the time when there is a spiritual Presence in the air that influences us towards a change of heart, this in order for peace to reign throughout the world on the day that the birth of Christ is celebrated.
Christmas provides us with the opportunity of being called sons and daughters of God, providing that we make peace with all those who have touched out lives. Let us pray for each other, that the grace of God may provide us with the strength that is necessary to make peace with every human beings.
Christmas is a Feast that is known by all, Christians and non-Christians. As such, it cannot be said that some have never heard of Jesus. If nothing else, hearing of the universal celebration of Christmas, they know that this is the day of the year when Jesus, the King of kings was born 2,000 years ago.
May I take this opportunity to wish you all a Merry Christmas. Wherever you are on Christmas Day, in your land or in another land, you are always invited to join the local Catholic Church in its joyful celebration of Christmas. No one should go a year without attending the Christmas Mass. By doing so, you are visiting Jesus in His home, where His Real Presence dwells in the Sacred Tabernacle of the Catholic Church.
Rejoice, Jesus comes!
