Monthly Newsletter of August, 2010.
(Issue # 124)

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,

Greetings in the Name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

As I reflect on the month of September, I am reminded that in some Dioceses, this is the month of the year when thousands of spiritual seekers will be joining the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (R.C.I.A.) in the hope of becoming members of the Roman Catholic Church. After a lengthy period of soul searching, their journey has led them all to the step of the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church that was instituted by Jesus Christ.

The R.C.I.A. is a long process, involving months of learning about the Catholic faith, its teachings, its Doctrines, its Tradition, its Liturgy, its History, all what the Church has deemed necessary to thoroughly inform those who seek membership. All of the aforementioned requires that the individuals digest a lot of spiritual material in a short period of time. I say in a short period of time because those who are born in the Catholic faith, many take a lifetime to learn what converts are required to learn in less than a year.

The new members of the Church that Christ has led to us, they are to be admired. Many will be persecuted because they have chosen to come home to the catholic Church. Some will be rejected by their families and friends. Most of us Catholics do not know what it means to suffer for our faith. We were born in the Catholic faith. We never had to lift a finger to defend it and we will die in the Catholic faith.

In many countries, the Catholic faith is underground. To admit that one is a Christian is a calling to be killed. And many are killed!

During September, please take a moment to pray for those who are converting to the Catholic faith, that they may persevere in the final steps of their journey that will admit them in the Mystical Body of Christ. They need are prayers; we need their examples as holy signs of the true faith.

May Christ guide us all in the unity of the Holy Spirit.

In the love of Jesus and Mary,
