CATHOLIC DOORS MINISTRY

Monthly Newsletter of May, 2010.
(Issue # 121)

Dear members of the Body of Christ,

On June 19, 2009, Pope Benedict XVI declared a “Year for Priests” beginning with the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. The year will soon conclude in Rome with an international gathering of priests with the Holy Father from June 9-11, 2010.

During the past year, many parishes have celebrated the "Year for Priests" in a variety of ways that echoed the Church member's appreciation of God's ambassadors on earth. Over and above this, many have taken it upon themselves to pray on a daily basis for their local priest(s). You will find over 50 prayers for priests here. If you have not done so, please consider praying for our priests that they might always be faithful to their sacred calling.

During the past twelve months, the Catholic Church has also seen fierce attacks on its reputation, some being warranted, others having been fabricated, only serving the purpose of spreading anti-Catholic sentiments. Indeed, some priests, a very small percentage of the whole, have failed the faithful that they were called to serve in the Most Holy Name of Jesus Christ. This does not justify attacking the entire Church for the sins of a few. For no one is guilty of the sins of his brothers in Christ, each being guilty of his own sins, no more, no less.

2009-2010 was a period of joys and shames. Through both, the Catholic Church has persisted by the power of the Holy Spirit, ensuring the continuation of its mission as outlined by the Divine Will.

You are the Church; the Church needs you, physically and spiritually! One member, by the grace of God, can be instrumental in the savings of many souls. One member, by the grace of God, can reverse the decline of vocations that has been seen during the past half century. One member, loyal to Christ, to the Pope and to the Church, can raise an endless number of loyal vocations. For God blesses those who are loyal and diminishes the light of those who walk away from the Divine truths.

Let us pray that God will send labourers to glorify His Church. "Therefore beseech the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into His harvest." [Mt. 9:38]
