Dear friends in Jesus,
In North America, it can be said for the majority of the people that the Summer Holidays have come to an end. Students are returning to their educational facilities in order to continue their education. The Tourism season is slowing down. The days are getting shorter. The evenings are getting cooler. The leaves are changing colour. These are all signs of major changes taking place in society.
One thing that shall continue at a regular pace in everybody's lives is their spiritual growth. One's love for God the Father through Our Lord Jesus Christ shall continue to flourish. Such shall be manifested by the love that is shown towards others. As Jesus said, "Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of these who are members of my family, you did it to me." [Mt. 25:40] Such is faith at work.
During the past month, Catholic Doors Ministry was given a status by Revenue Canada Agency during its audit of the 2007 & 2008 accounting. It has classified Catholic Doors Ministry as a "Non-profit Organization" (NPO) under section 149 (1)(1) of the Income Tax Act.
This classification is not the same as a "Registered Charity" that is Tax Exempt, being entitled to issue Income Tax Receipt. As an NPO, Catholic Doors is not Tax-Exempt and cannot issue Income Tax Receipt. The status of an NPO is in harmony with the teaching of Jesus when He said, "Beware of practising your piety before others in order to be seen by them; for then you have no reward from your Father in heaven. So whenever you give alms, do not sound a trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, so that they may be praised by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward. But when you give alms, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your alms may be done in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you." [Mt. 6:1-4]
The Catholic Doors Ministry's effort of raising funds for a new Cathedral in India is a perfect example of giving in secret. No names are mentioned and no Tax-Exempt Receipts are issued. Click here to see http://www.catholicdoors.com/missioninindia/howmuch.htm how much has been raised.
The other benefit of being classified as an NPO is that as an individual, I maintain control of the website and what goes on it. As a Non-Profit Organization, there would be a Board of Directors of at least 5 members who would determine what should be on the Catholic Doors Ministry website, such decisions sometimes dragging for month.
Once more, many thanks to those who have supported the Diocese of Kannur in India. Your needs are remembered on a daily basis by the Bishop and clergy of that Diocese.
May the love of Jesus always be with you,
Catholic Doors Ministry
