Monthly Newsletter of January, 2008.
(Issue # 93)

Dear brothers and sisters in the Lord Jesus,

In less than a week, Ash Wednesday shall be upon us, opening the door to the Holy Season of Lent. During this liturgical time frame, thousands of believers throughout the world shall prepare themselves to be adopted as our new brothers and sisters in Christ. They shall all join the Catholic Church, the Body of Christ, through the Sacrament of Baptism. Let us pray for these souls, that the Holy Spirit shall richly guide them during their spiritual journey.

For those who are not aware of this fact, Ash Wednesday is observed by fasting, abstinence from meat, and repentance. It is a day when we should be contemplating on our transgressions against the Lord, the Church, and all the members of mankind.

Following Ash Wednesday, we will enter the Lenten Season that will last for forty days. Those 40 days represent the time that Jesus spent in the desert, where, according to the Holy Bible, He endured temptation by Satan. During that period, Catholics will be called to continue to fast, to pray, to practice self-denial and to do almsgiving. This practice is to continue until the celebration of the glorious Resurrection of the Lord Jesus.

The website of the Catholic Doors Ministry has many wonderful spiritual tools to help Catholics grow in their faith. I pray that some of these tools will be beneficial to you.

In the love of the Lord God,
