Frequently Asked Questions
regarding
THE USAGE OF ELECTRONIC DEVICES
DURING THE CELEBRATION OF THE HOLY MASS.

Q. 1. What is the position of the Catholic Church regarding a priest using electronic devices during the celebration of the Holy Mass, either for some of the readings or as notes to remember during his homily?

A. 1. The Catholic Church has not released any instruction of the usage of electronic devices such as ipods, ipads, tablets, etc... during the Holy Mass.

It appears that the matter is left in the hands of the local Bishop to decree on the matter. If such has not been done, and if the celebrant is using the approved texts, it is unimportant if the celebrant uses an attractive Roman Missal or an electronic device.
