Q. 1. What is the Catholic interpretation of the Latin
phrase "Actus reus?"
A. 1. "Actus reus" means "guilty act." Actus reus relates
to the actual commission of the crime. This is different from "mens rea" that represents
the mental attitude (guilty mind) of the accused.
