Frequently Asked Questions
regarding
DATING WHILE WAITING
FOR THE CHURCH ANNULMENT.

Q. 1. My husband and I have been separated for 5 years. We are divorced and he remarried. During the past year, I applied for an Annulment in the Catholic Church so I can be free to marry again. At present, I am seeing someone on a regular basis. What is the Church position regarding my dating while waiting for an Annulment?

A. 1. In the eyes of the catholic Church, until such time as your marriage has been annulled, you are still married to your husband. Therefore, is it appropriate for you to date another man while you are still married to your husband? When living with your husband, would you have felt comfortable dating another man?

Until such time as your marriage has been annulled, the Catholic Church expects you to behave as a married person when it comes to socializing on a one-to-one basis.
