Q. 1. Has Medjugorje been recognized by the Catholic Church?
A. 1. The Catholic Church has never approved Medjugorje. In fact, it has stated that it could find no proof of any supernatural event taking place at Medjugorje.
There are those who maintain that while the Catholic Church has never approved Medjugorje, it has never condemned it, therefore causing confusion. They further state that since the Church has no proof of supernatural events having taken place, it does not mean that such events have not taken place. It only means that they have not witnessed them. So as you can see, this twisted interpretation of the words of the Catholic authority leads to confusion and division.
There are many who, because of personal pride, will never admit that they were wrong in concluding that something supernatural happened in Medjugorje.
Just recently, I came across a couple, one of them being an ex-priest, who claimed that most Catholics do not see the signs all around of the end times, they even rejecting Medjugorje that was sent from Heaven. His words were spoken in a manner to intimidate those who were present because they would not accept the alleged apparitions of Medjugorje.
Such is the behaviour that many supporters of Medjugorje have embraced. They intimidate anyone or refuses to believe what they believe. These supporters of Medjugorje consider themselves to be superior to other Catholics, in fact, they consider themselves to be the true Catholics because they are faithful to their beliefs. It is no wonder that there is division in the Catholic Church.
Those who support Medjugorje, especially those who have gone to Medjugorje, have returned home possessed with the spirit of division, the spirit of pride, the spirit of intimidation, none of these being the fruit of Christ. He who puts down his fellow brothers and sisters in Christ, he lacks charity. He who lacks charity, he is without love. He who is without love, Satan is his father! Let us pray for those who have been deceived by Medjugorje for they have been possessed by the spirit of deception.
