Q. 1. Are Catholic men allowed to take Viagra?

A. 1. First of all, Catholic married men are allowed to take Viagra. Sex outside of marriage is considered sinful. "Outside of marriage it always constitutes a grave sin and excludes one from sacramental communion." [C.C.C. # 2390]

Viagra is a drug that helps married men to overcome a pathological condition that prevents them from engaging in the conjugal act with their spouses. Is it wrong for a married man to take a medicine that will assist him in meeting his obligation as a married spouse? No, it is not.
