Two thousands years ago, the Lord Jesus directed His followers to go forth and evangelize, making disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that He had commanded. [Mt. 28:19-20] To assist in this commission, Jesus had previously said, "The Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, will teach you everything, and remind you of all that I have said to you." [Jn. 14:26]
Thirty years ago, through the Second Vatican Council, an evangelical response was given to the changes of the 20th century. This was followed by the various Catholic Synods with the main purpose of evangelization, reviving the Christianity of de-Christianized nations of the West. In 1994, in his Letter 'Tertio Millennio Adveniente', pope John-Paul II once more emphasized that the de-Christianized West is now in need of being re-evangelized.
This need is clearly seen by the shortage of religious vocations to answer the greatest call of all, to serve the Lord through the religious life. The need to evangelize is also observed in the decreased number of practicing Catholics. So many have become indifferent to their christian obligations, neglecting their spiritual growth as their assurance of their final glory of eternal life in Heaven.
The Catholic Doors Ministry is a Canadian response to answer the command of the Lord Jesus and the call of Pope John-Paul II to evangelize. Because of the method of communication that is being used to bring these courses into the homes, this ministry cannot be limited to just re-evangelizing the West. Rather, it is a worldwide oriented ministry, available to all those who long to grow in their spiritual lives.
The wind blows where it chooses. You hear the sound of it, but you do not know where it comes form or where it is going. So it is with those who are born of the Spirit. [Jn. 3:8] In the very special year, 1998, that the Catholic Church has dedicated to the Holy Spirit, our ministry takes its first step forward, trusting in the Holy Spirit to blow as the wind, bringing the Good News into the hearts of those who seek out the way, the truth and the life. [Jn. 14:6]
Giving the Holy Spirit the full Divine authority to freely move for the growth of the Body of Christ, the Catholic Doors Ministry welcomes those who wish to translate some or all of the courses into other languages in order to help more Christians to grow in their spiritual lives. We welcome national and international inquiries from interested parties. You may write to the address below or E-Mail your comments, suggestions or prayer requests.
One of the mandates of the Catholic Doors Ministry is to:
1) Promote the teachings of Jesus Christ which are found in the Catholic Bible. This is seen by the numerous Bible references throughout the courses.
2) Guard the deposit of faith which is the mission that Jesus entrusted to the Church. This is seen by the numerous references to the Catechism of the Catholic Church.
3) Help Catholics to share in the communion between the Father and the Son in their Spirit of love. [Cf. John Paul II, RMiss.23] (Catechism # 850)
In this mandate to evangelize, the Catholic Doors Ministry provides courses that:
- Cover a variety of subjects;
- Are available to Catholic priests, free of charge, for usage at the parish level, once permission has been obtained;
- Are inexpensive;
- Are written in simple English; and
- Are suitable for all ages.
Being available to Catholics through their local priests or at an affordable price for those who wish to register directly with our office, Catholics and interested non-Catholics can register, being without excuse for neglecting their spiritual growth.
The Catholic Doors Ministry longs to serve those who hunger for the Word of God and thirst for living water in their lives. Our ministry believes that those who have been searching knowledge on how to become living sacrifices, will be guided by the power of the Holy Spirit towards the truth that is found in our courses. May the grace of the Lord be with you in your spiritual growth that will shine for the glory of the Father.
We thank the Lord for gathering together those who enjoyed the necessary gifts of the Holy Spirit that made it possible for this ministry to come to life.
