After years of prayer, let us rejoice.

On May 13, 2000, the Holy Father, Pope John-Paul II, will be in Fatima, Portugal to beatify Jacinta and Francisco Marto, two of the three seers to who the Immaculate Heart of Mary appeared on the 13 th of every month from May to October, 1917. The third child, Lucia dos Santos, is still living.

Touched by Our Lady's message to pray, Jacinta, age 7, would frequently call upon her brother Francisco to pray with her in order to save souls from Hell. She would say, "There are so many who go down there! So many!" Although Lucy reassured her that she would go to Heaven, Jacinta prayed for the lost soul, desiring that all people go to Heaven.

At the tender age of 9, the messages of Our Lady left Francisco with a burning preoccupation to console the Virgin Mary and God who were saddened by the sins of the world. Whenever the opportunity presented itself, he ran to the Church where he could be in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament to console Our Lord Jesus and Mary.

Facing calumny, persecution, kidnapping, imprisonment and the threat of death if they continued to maintain that the Blessed Virgin Mary had appeared to them, the three seers heroically stood firm as champions of the Immaculate Heart of Mary to ensure that her message would reach the world.

May these children who persevered in their living faith be examples to our children and to us adults so we will always cherish the treasures that are found in our faith. Through the grace of Jesus and the intercession of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, these little shepherds are being elevated for the glory of God.

As the inspired Word of God tells us about the Blessed Virgin Mary, "Surely, from now on all generations will call me blessed." [Lk. 1:48] Fatima is a another of the many miraculous signs that the Lord God shall ensure that the Immaculate Heart of Mary shall be known by all throughout the generations.

[The following prayer can be used by interchanging the names of Jacinta or Francisco.]

Most Holy Trinity,
Father, Son and Holy Ghost,
I adore Thee profoundly with all the powers of my soul,
and I thank Thee for the Apparitions
of the Most Holy Virgin in Fatima
which have made manifest to the world
the treasures of Her Immaculate Heart.

By the infinite merits of the Sacred heart of Jesus
and through the intercession of the Immaculate Heart of Mary
I implore Thee if it should be for Thy greater glory
and the good of our souls to glorify
in he sight of Thy Holy Church, (Jacinta/Francisco)
the shepherd of Fatima,
granting us through (her/him) intercession
the grace which we implore.

Our Father...

Hail Mary...

Glory be...
